9AM? Wasn’t I supposed to start driving at like 8am?
Uhoh

So yes that’s how I started my day: too late. That’s what you get when you spend too much time online. Anyway I grabbed my stuff in a hurry and ordered/ate my usual chicken-cucumber sandwich from the bakery downstairs. So delicious. And now officially my lucky food. After that I got into my car and started driving, hurrying myself to Rotterdam. I arrived about 15 minutes before the warming-up, and got extremely lucky seen as the location was easy to find, just as a free parking-spot. After picking up my race-number in the form of weird shoe-tags, putting on my race-shirt and dropping of my bag, I was just in time for the warming-up. Sweet!

Then it was officially the beginning of the Harbour Run, at least for us, Terminal 3. Saw a few of my colleagues racing by from another Terminal, but they didn’t spot me. that’s what you get when you’ve got a dwarf-like height. The race was quite heavy because apparently my legs were still processing the half-marathon from last week. Luckily the run turned out to be easy, and unfortunately to say: boring. The location was amazing but it was a lot of running, also outside the actual harbor, and the obstacles were not challenging at all. The only that actually was a little tricky for me were the “Uniport Hurdles“, because it was something high and I’m something small. Luckily a tall guy gave me a hand so I could climb them. Thank you kindly sir! The other thing that was quite interesting was the “Black Box“, were you ran into a hall filled with huge containers, harbor-noises and flashing lights. Another thing was that my mouth was really dry at the start. Probably didn’t drink enough that morning. It started to be really annoying when after 5k we still didn’t see a water-point, and I started growing desperate for water, thinking that I probably wouldn’t get any before the finish. This was most likely published on the website, but as usual, I didn’t read it. But finally, at 8k, there it was, water. I drank 4 goblets before I felt like going again, dragging my heavy and tired legs forward. Only 2k left!

When I crossed the finish I wanted water, but unfortunately they were only distributing coconut-water. Which I don’t like. Luxury-problems! So I just stretched (yes, I totally did that this time), hoping that my next race will be more challenging.

Run on!
